Coming through The Ultimate Fighter and later becoming one of the top featherweights in the UFC, the quirky Bryce Mitchell has earned the love of many mixed martial arts fans around the world.
The Arkansas native came within a few inches of a title shot, but lost in his final fight. The decision to take on a fight with a man of such danger as Josh Emmett was the wrong one. “Thug Nasty” suffered what has been dubbed as one of most brutal knockouts this year.
Mitchell was gracious in defeat despite the loss and has now expressed his gratitude to Emmett, for not being able to cause fatal injuries with follow-up shots.
Mitchell, who lost at UFC 296, said in a video that he was “so happy” with Emmett. Mitchell said, “He could have used the hammer-fist right after he knocked out and that would probably have killed me.”
“He didn’t even follow-up with anything, you’re right. He was happy with the knockout he got and walked off. I am so grateful for that. This is something I’ll never forget. “Thank you for not hitting extra me, Josh.”
Bryce Mitchell thanked Joe Rogan and Dana White for their care of him.
