Demetrious Johnson, despite defending the UFC Flyweight title 11 times in a row and being the most dominant champion ever promoted, never received any pay-per view bonuses or incentives.
Between September 2012 and August 2018, he defeated some of flyweight’s biggest names, including Ian McCall. Joseph Benavidez. John Dodson. Kyoji Horiguchi. Henry Cejudo. Undoubtedly, he is one of the greatest pound-for -pound fighters of all time. Unfortunately, Dana White and the UFC largely ignored ‘Mighty Mouse’ and his entire division because they didn’t have the drawing power of the lightweight or light heavyweight fighters.
Johnson did not receive any pay-per-view (PPV) points for his time at flyweight, something to which all fighters are usually entitled once they reach the top in their respective division.
Demetrious Johnson responded on his YouTube Channel to an interview, wherein the UFC claimed that DJ flat-out declined to receive any points in favour of a lump-sum payment.
Johnson says that’s bullsh*t.
