Ex-UFC, WWE star Matt Riddle says combat sports return strong possibility in 2024: 'I've had that itch'


LAS VEGAS – The tale of Matt Riddle in MMA is a unique story, but apparently there are still chapters to be written.

It’s been a decade since Riddle (8-3) stepped into the cage for an unscripted fight, but that could change very soon. Riddle is a free agent after leaving WWE. He has put fighting back as his main focus.

“There’s been a lot of talk. I’ve been talking to a couple of promotions,” Riddle told MMA Junkie on the World MMA Awards red carpet outside of Sahara Theater. “I don’t want to get into it until it’s official, but I think in 2024 there’s a very big possibility that I get back in the ring or cage pretty soon.”

Riddle’s last MMA match was in February 2014. It was a one-off event for Titan FC. After a controversial exit from UFC in 2013, this is the only bout he has ever competed in. Two failed drug tests, both for marijuana, overturned his four-fight winning streak.

Riddle was ripped on the way out the door by UFC CEO Dana White, who took exception to Riddle’s unwillingness to comply with state and promotion guidelines.
