Jessica Camara wins WBA Gold Title after defeating former world champion Hyun Mi Choi, who was undefeated.

NEW YORK (April 29, 2024)– Former world title challenger Jessica Camara scored a huge win as she defeated undefeated and former two-division world champion Myun Hi Choi to win the WBA Gold  Championship via split decision in Choi’s home country of South Korea.

Camara, who was just beaten by unified champion Kali Reis in a split-decision fight, was able dominate Choi and take control of the match from the start.

Camara’s impressive winning record now includes victories against Dalila Vázquez (5-1) a former world champion Heather Hardy (22-1) and Split-T Management. Camara’s record is now 13-4.

Choi was a remarkable fighter who won the WBA Featherweight title at 17 years old in her debut as a professional. She then made seven successful defenses. Choi moved up to the WBA Super Featherweight and made several defenses. Choi has now won 22 consecutive fights.
