Heavyweight champion Jon Jones was injured while preparing for his UFC 295 title defense against former titleholder Stipe Miocic.  “Bones'” pectoral muscle was torn while training in last October.  

Jones had surgery a few days after the accident and has been undergoing physical therapy for several months.  Jones returned to the gym six months after his surgery.  

“First day back in the gym since my injury, felt amazing,” Jones wrote on Instagram. “And so it began.”

Jones is almost universally regarded as the GOAT in mixed martial arts.  He is the youngest UFC champ in history.  He is a two-time champion in the light heavyweight division.  He held the record for holding the 205-pound title for 1,501 consecutive days.  He holds the heavyweight title and has won the most UFC titles bouts.   

Jones vacated the light heavyweight title in 2020 following his UFC 247 decision win over Dominick Reyes.  Three years later, Jones returned to the Octagon to compete for the heavyweight title.  

Jones faced top contender at the time, Ciryl Gane in the UFC 285 main event in March 2023.  The fight lasted just two minutes.  Jones submitted Gane by guillotine…
