One of the biggest MMA matches in Japan was announced at a press conference Saturday for Rizin’s summer show Super Rizin 3. Mikuru Hiramoto will be facing off against the former K-1 Kickboxer Ren Hiramoto. The match is being billed as the “2 Villains: The Match in The Dark.” The two have jawed and traded insults to each other for many years and will finally get to settle the score on July 28 at the Saitama Super Arena.

Asakura’s recent losing streak has continued. Last year, he lost the inaugural featherweight title to Vugar Karmov. On the Rise show Fight Club, he then lost to Ya-Man an open-finger gloves kickboxing bout. His last win came against former featherweight champion Juntaro Ushikku. He is also the creator of Breaking Down, an online viral promotion. Breaking Down is a series of one-round matches that usually involve gangsters and criminals as well as Japanese people who have been ostracized. These fights are viewed by millions on TikTok, YouTube and other social media platforms.
