Ronda was considered to be the best women’s mixed-martial artist of all time during her peak in the sport. She had a 12-0 record going into her fight with Holly Holm. But the UFC 193 main event was the beginning of her end.
Rowdy would lose her unbeaten streak and the women’s bantamweight championship after a head kick less than a minute into the second. Ronda Rowdy has explained why she feels she lost that night, even though the event took place over eight years earlier.
Rousey has spoken out about her concussions in a recent UFC interview. Recent reports suggest that she suffered from concussions during her UFC career.
“I was done fighting after the loss [to Holly Holm],” Rousey said in an interview with Valeria Lipovetsky. “I had suffered so many concussions that I couldn’t even take a jab at that point without getting one.”
“I reached a point where I was no longer able to fight because of my neurological condition.” I gave everything I had, until my mind and body started to crumble. When I couldn’t do anything more, they hated for me.”
I felt like it was my duty to return.
