Sean O'Malley already in UFC 299 training camp and feeling 'disciplined'


Bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley (17-1, 1 NC) is feeling good in training camp.  “Sugar” is already in training camp for his UFC 299 rematch with Marlon “Chito” Vera on March 9.  

Both fought for the first time in August 2020, at UFC 252 in Las Vegas.  Vera’s only career defeat came in August 2020 when “Sugar” was defeated by Vera late in the 1st round using elbows and punched after O’Malley sustained a foot injury.  

O’Malley did not acknowledge the loss at first and would refer to himself as undefeated.  He’s been wanting to avenge that loss ever since he walked away from the Octagon.  After winning the championship by stopping Aljamain Sterling at UFC 293, O’Malley called out Vera for his first title defense.  The UFC 299 card in Miami Florida booked the rematch as the main event.  

“I feel a lot more disciplined and stoic in camp.”  It’s just, for whatever reason, it’s just easier,” O’Malley said on his YouTube channel.  You’ve got a date.  Got a mission.  I’m on an important mission to kill Chito, and I will do whatever it takes to ensure that this happens.  God, I’m wondering if Chito is going to appear.  Which Chito will show up?  I will show up.  I will show up.  I do not fail to show up.”…
