Superbon, the Thai icon, returned to the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium of Bangkok for a rematch against Armenian powerhouse Marat Gregoryian as the ONE Friday Fights 58 main event. The winner will be crowned interim ONE kickboxing featherweight world champ, paving the way for a title unification fight with Chingiz Allazov, the undisputed king.
Grigorian tried to apply pressure early on the Thai and delivered a barrage of strikes at the end of the first round. This included a few solid uppercuts which connected cleanly. Grigorian tried to apply the same pressure to Superbon in the second round, as he delivered a series body kicks to try and stop him from moving forward.
Grigorian, despite taking some heavy punishment in his midsection during the third round, did not intend to back down. He accelerated the pace of the fight as Superbon began to show signs fatigue.
Both fighters, with the fight possibly tied at the end of the fifth round, let out their gas and rained down a series of brutal blows on each other before the final bell. This brought an end to a classic match between two of the best kickboxers pound for pound in the world.
