Surprise contender emerges as opponent for Aljamain Sterling's featherweight debut

Aljamain Sterling could be moving up to featherweight much sooner than expected.

Sean O’Malley knocked ‘Funk Master’ out of the bantamweight championship last time he fought. Before the loss, the wrestler hadn’t been defeated in nearly six years. He was also on one of his best winning streaks ever.

Sterling teased a weight increase to 145lbs since losing the belt. He may have now found his first opponent. Giga had to pull out of UFC 296 due to injury. It seems that the Jamaican would like the opportunity to fight Josh Emmett.

Aljamain Sterling not only retweeted Emmett’s tweet, but also revealed his walk-around weight. This has caused speculation amongst fans.

Sterling only has 11 days before the fight to get weight. Emmett’s fight is the main prelim at this time but…
