Justin Gaethje’s parents were in the crowd when he suffered what many are calling the most brutal knockout in UFC history.
Gaethje was forced to deal with some early difficulties when he stepped into the Octagon for UFC 300, where he would defend his BMF title against former featherweight World Champion Max Holloway. Holloway had landed a spinning back kick that broke Gaethje’s nose.
Gaethje remained competitive despite his early injury and hung on with one the greatest strikers of MM history. Holloway asked the men to throw their hands in the middle until the final horn. Gaethje obliged, throwing caution to the wind and going toe-to-toe with ‘Blessed’ in the proverbial phone booth.
Moments later, ‘The Highlight’ would become exactly that.
Holloway’s booming right overhand, which connected cleanly with Gaethje and sent him crashing down to the floor, was the last thing Holloway did. This was one of the most stunning and frightening knockouts ever seen in UFC.
