Max Holloway and Justin Gaethje joked about their first encounter before the fight. They had been booked for a symbolic BMF title bout at UFC 300, in April.
Holloway is the number one featherweight contender and will be making his second walk through the lightweight division in April. He will face Arizona native Gaethje in a BMF championship match at UFC 300.
Holloway has won his last two fights in the 145-pound division. In August, the Hawaiian champion knocked out former title-challenger Chan Sung Jung to announce his retirement.
Gaethje has not fought since last July, when he won the BMF title with a high-kick knockout in the second round.
