WANDERLEI SILVA NAMED TO UFC® HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2024
Las Vegas – UFC® Today announced that Wanderlei Silva, former PRIDE FC Middleweight Champion will be inducted as a pioneer into the UFC Hall of Fame 2024 class. The UFC Hall of Fame Induction will take place on July 20th in Las Vegas. It will be streamed exclusively live by UFC FIGHT Pass.®.
“Wanderlei Silva is one of the true pioneers of the sport of MMA,” UFC CEO Dana White said. “Wanderlei was an absolute savage who left his mark by delivering some of the most memorable fights in combat sports history. His fights with Mirko Cro-Crop, Chuck Liddell and Brian Stann were legendary, but his fights with Rich Franklin were wars. He was also one of the early superstars of PRIDE who helped grow the MMA fanbase on a global scale, and it will be an honor to induct him into the UFC Hall of Fame this summer.”
Silva is the 19th UFC Hall of Fame inductee.Th Members of the Pioneer Era Wing. The Pioneers Era includes athletes who became professional before November 17th, 2000 (when unified mixed martial arts rules were adopted), who are at least 35 years old or have retired for a year.
