UFC veteran Jorge Masvidal backed to make triumphant boxing move: ‘He’s gonna surprise a lot of people’

Bellator Middleweight champion, Johnny Eblen discusses teammate Jorge Masvidal’s return to fighting. 

Masivdal announced his retirement in April 2023. He had lost a decision in the previous month to Gilbert Burns. It was his fourth defeat in a row. Masivdal, the BMF’s original champion, had clearly lost his step. Even he admitted as much. Now seemed to be a good moment to retire. 

Jorge Masvidal, like so many other fighters, is not yet done fighting and will soon be testing the waters of boxing. ‘Gamebred’ is set to take on Nate Diaz next month in Las Vegas and will be promoted by Happy Punch after the UFC had given the green light.

Eblen, a fellow American Top Team fight, spoke with The AllStar about Masvidal’s decision to unretire. He thought it was a positive step that could enhance his already impressive resume.
