In a UFC spring event, middleweights ranked by weight will be competing in an important main event.

The promotion announced Wednesday that former title contenders Marvin Vettori, and Brendan Allen would headline UFC Fight Night in April. Although the event doesn’t have an official venue or location, the UFC has submitted a request with the Nevada State Athletic Commission to host an event on that date at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Vettori (19-6-1 MMA, 9-5-1 UFC) remains No. In the official UFC rankings at 185 pounds, Vettori is ranked No. 5 despite having gone 2-3 in his last five fights. Vettori won two of his five fights, Roman Dolidze over Paulo Costa. He lost the others to Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker.

Allen (23-5 MMA; 11-2 UFC), riding a winning streak of six fights since a defeat to Chris Curtis on December 20, 2021, will present a serious challenge for Vettori. While it’s not the No. A win over Vettori would seem to confirm that No. Allen is a serious contender for the 185-pound title.
